Country Victoria has produced the geographically dispersed but very much together Dip Road Dogs with their new single ‘Lazy’. ‘Lazy’ has a slow burning tone with sweeping strings and crisp jangly guitars that immediately recalls The National or Tindersticks with an inherent Australian laconic delivery.
A reflective, self-deprecating sense of humour in the lyrics augments what is a lovely dreamy tune accompanied by a dreamy lyric video of waving fields. Singer Dave Chirnside jests of the lryics:
It’s a warning to everyone to make sure you mow the lawns and do the dishes or you will end up alone!
It’s a heart-achingly beautifully expressed song:
‘Lazy’ is off the band’s forthcoming EP entitled ‘Shakshuka’.
Dip Road Dogs is Jack Pay, Dave Chirnside, Oliver Close and Matthew Close.
Lazy is out now and Shakshuka will be released on May 21.
