Dinosaur Pile-Up return with a bang on “My Way,” a no-holds-barred anthem that kicks off with an unexpected mix of animal noises and acoustic strums before exploding into the kind of punk-fuelled, riff-heavy rock they do best. It’s scrappy, confident, and completely lovable—with one of the most infectious choruses you’ll hear this year. There’s attitude and humor packed into every second, but it never feels throwaway. This is a band having fun and meaning every word, which is refreshing and maybe surprising given the period of illness that has cost frontman Matt Bigland so much in the last four years.
The breakdown mid-track sees frontman Bigland cut through the noise with a moment of raw honesty: “Nah, quitting ain’t my style… so fuck it,” he states, and you can almost see the smile on his face—and then the whole thing roars back to life. It doesn’t stop there, either: things get heavier, the riffs turn nastier, and the metal edge creeps in before it circles back to that golden chorus and a twitchy, stuttering finale that leaves you grinning.
The single is the latest taste of their upcoming album I’ve Felt Better, due August 22 via Mascot Records—their first in six years and clearly shaped by a journey of struggle, growth, and newfound clarity. It’s the sound of a band reclaiming their identity and charging ahead.
To top it off, DPU are heading out on a UK tour this September, hitting cities like London, Manchester, Bristol, and Glasgow. After a long break from touring, they’re more than ready—and if “My Way” is anything to go by, these shows are going to be absolute chaos in the best possible way.
