Den Der Hale, which roughly translates to The Slippery One or That Tail, depending on whether it is read in Swedish or Danish, is a five-piece post-psych band. The band was formed in 2019 by Pontus Lindskogen (guitar, vocals), Max Bredberg (guitar), Axel Nelson (drums), Mimosa Baker (synth, vocals), and Ejner Trenter (bass). They quickly gained recognition in Scandinavia with a series of singles, followed by their debut album, ‘Harsyra’, in 2021.
The band are now set to release their highly anticipated second album, ‘Pastoral Light’, on the 2nd of February via FatCat Records. Taken from the album they have shared the single ‘Donkey Skin’ one of the band’s early compositions, which takes inspiration from cinema.
The band comment:
“The song takes its name and lyrical theme from the eponymous French film from 1970, and although it was considered to have it be a fully acoustic track, the dreamy atmosphere of the film soon bled into the songwriting, and a more effect-driven and ethereal sound was decided on,”
Donkey skin is a mystical and magnetic track that grabs hold and doesn’t let go. Droning, almost hypnotic acoustic guitar, drums and swirling synths clash with high lilting vocals giving the track a pulsating energy.
