Montréal husband and wife duo The Dears will return with their sixth studio album, Times Infinity Volume One, due out on February 3, 2017 through Dangerbird Records. From it, the band have today shared a new track, to have and to hold. As the album title suggests, it’ll be followed by volume two later in the year.
To have and hold opens with these woozy strings and swoons, which come in and out of focus, before settling as the accomapanyment to the vocal line. It sweeps along, filled with emotion and melancholy, nodding towards 50’s torch songs, with Murray Lightburn leaving his heart firmly on his sleeve, capturing and captivating all comers with an arrow aimed straight at the heart.
Beautiful stuff.
It comes ahead of The Dears’ first UK tour in six years, including a date at London Village Underground on February 28, through the end of the month.
