Track: Dead Air Announce New EP ‘Elements’; Listen To New Single ‘Die’

Joe Bannister

Starting off the year in typically high gear, South London alt-rock newcomers Dead Air have released their riff-heavy, anthemic, and riotous new single ‘Die’. The track is the latest to be taken from their  forthcoming sophomore EP, ‘Elements’, due out on the 7th of February 2025 via Fly Tip Records.

Commenting on the new single, front man Reuben says:

“‘Die’ was the second half of a two part track—whether the first part comes out we’ll see, but ‘Die’ follows an individual who wakes up in the afterlife after taking their life. Confused and distraught by what they see, they reflect on the actions they have taken. Cursing themselves, they wish to return back to the world of the living.”

A thumbing huge beat, a deadly build up with a powerful chorus all dominated by the string tripping bass of front man Reuben. Who also delivers a masterful vocal performance equally matched by Lyle and Rich completing this bombastic trio. Who is this band? Your new favourite bands that’s who. ‘Die’ is a rip roaring exciting 3 minutes from a very exciting band. In the band’s own words, “F*ck sh*t up. Die.”

“Big up Rob Wilkes for getting us in the studio and leaving us to do our own thing,” says a grateful Moonasar of the initial writing sessions for Elements. “We spent a few weekends locked away writing day and night, sleeping in the control room on blow up mattresses. It was the grimiest dream come true. Waking up to fresh coffee and cigarettes every day we powered through song after song and came out with four tracks.”

With producer Davide Venco—who helped the band define their vision for the songs—on side, the trio then headed to The Kinks’ legendary Konk Studios in London to lay down the final tracks.

“It’s a stunning studio and hides some incredible gear,” says Moonasar. “The main studio has a great room sound which really lent itself to the moodiness of the EP. The drums especially sang in that room, a sound partially achieved by our tech Matt and Simon from London Drum Company, who tuned that kit to perfection.”

Lead single ‘Violently Blue’ was released in late 2024 and landed on NME’s New Bangers playlist, BBC R1 Introducing Rock with Alyx Holcombe, Kerrang! Radio, Planet Rock, Amazing Radio and more.

With further new material and live dates on the horizon for this year, Dead Air are now poised and armed to capitalise on their initial success and showcase how powerful and world-beating UK rock music can be.

Alongside the single news, the band are pleased to reveal a run of Feb/Mar 2025 UK tour dates, plus an appearance at FOCUS Wales 2025, with tickets on sale now.
