Blending pulsing electronica and emotive pop, Indian, now London based up and comer Ishani’s haunting new single ‘Powertripp’ captures a hypnotic aura whilst conveying a cathartic, relatable message as the track lyrically treads through a toxic relationship.
Built around a Massive Attack-esque, slightly distorted, pleasingly lazy beat, the track builds a dark and atmospheric layers of swelling synth. Ishani’s silky, reverb soaked lead vocal floats around the soundscape ethereally giving the track direction as it gradually ebbs and flows, slowly introducing new elements as it builds towards a sparkling climax.
Speaking not he track, Ishani explains: “This is a song about self-love and how you can overcome being in a toxic relationship where negative patterns repeat. You have to come to a point where you let go of the rope of that power struggle and choose yourself over the endless loops. Take off your mask and veil and walk away.”
