London based punks Burnt Tapes have announced their second album ‘New Lungs’, which is due out August 8th via Wiretap Records / Lockjaw Records and Nasty Cut Records. The first single from the new album, ‘Mothersguilt’ is out now.
‘Mothersguilt’ paints a vivid picture of internal struggle, pressure, and disillusionment, dealing with themes of mental exhaustion, self-doubt, the weight of society’s expectations, and the failure to meet those expectations.
Singer and guitarist Phil G comments:
“It’s been a long time since our first record. We’ve had a pandemic in between, and that kinda does things to a person. We wanted to push harder on all the good things about Never Better but also bring something new to the table, and we’re excited to share this first single with everyone,”
Sometimes, the in-your-face riffathon that pop-punk bands bring can feel like the greatest two minutes of music that scratch that angsty itch. Burnt Tapes do just that with new single ‘Mothersguilt’. Its nostalgic, energetic and catchy as hell. What more do our ears need.
