Taken from their forthcoming album Don’t Get Lost, out on February 24th on A Recordings, the Brian Jonestown Massacre have revealed a new track – called Fact 67, featuring The Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess.
Coming just four months after their ‘Third World Pyramid’ album, Don’t Get Lost was recorded and produced at Anton Newcombe’s new Cobra Studio in Birmingham, and will be the bands 16th full length release. As well as Burgess, the band have drafted in Tess Parks, Shaun Rivers, and Friederike Bienert to guest on tracks.
Fact 67 is a dark, almost suffocating pop record, the bass holding as much melodic interest as the guitar and it has the enclosed feel of an early Cure record. As it slowly unfurls, so more layers come in, with a little of the shoegaze coming into view with this teasing, insistent guitar riding over the top of everything without before suddenly barging its way to the forfront with these slashy chords to finish. Largely instrumental, Tim Burgess does add a little of his slacker magic to it though.
Bring on the album.
