Ice-T’s rap-metal sextet, Body Count, have unveiled ‘Bum-Rush’, the latest teaser track from their upcoming seventh album, ‘Carnivore’. The band burst onto the scene in 1992 with their anti-police brutality anthem ‘Cop Killer’ (which earned them the ire of Charlton Heston and the PMRC) and have used music as a forum for socio-political commentary on songs like ‘No Lives Matter’ (2017) ever since. They’re continuing that tradition on ‘Bum-Rush’, the video for which features the band staging a violent takeover of a corporate media outlet and broadcasting the ‘real news’. Check it out below.
While lead guitarist Ernie C’s playing gets a little Joe Satriani-ish in places for my liking, both the video and the track itself are undeniably effective as calls to arms and as appetite-whetters for what ‘Carnivore’ has in store. The album is out via Century Media on March 6th and is available to pre-order here. It features guest appearances from Hatebreed’s Jamey Jasta, Power Trip’s Riley Gale, and Evanescence’s Amy Lee.
