Track: Bob Mould mines indie rock gold with new single “Here We Go Crazy”

Bob Mould’s new single, “Here We Go Crazy”, couldn’t belong to anyone else. It’s classic Mould—this brooding simmering angst, swathes of guitar noise, and a driving pulse, but like the best of his work with Hüsker Dü and Sugar, it’s all wrapped up in a bittersweet pop pill. The immediate chorus, sugared with backing vocals nods to the widescreen, melodic sound of Copper Blue, but the underlying tension feels as urgent as ever.

The accompanying video, shot in the dramatic expanse of the Southern Californian desert, mirrors the song’s energy—raw, sweeping, and untamed. A perfect taster for his forthcoming album of the same name, releasing March 7th via BMG/Granary Music, “Here We Go Crazy” feels both nostalgic and refreshingly new, proof that Mould’s knack for balancing fear and melancholy with melody is as sharp as it’s ever been. After all these years, he’s still pushing forward without losing his edge.
