After six years away, Black Moth Super Rainbow are back with a new album, Panic Blooms, out on May 4th, and a new single, Mr No One. They and their mysterious, oft mask-wearing frontman Tobacco have stuck their heads above the Pennsylvania woods they inhabit to record a new set of disorienting, day-glo experimental pop.
Mr No One is a thing of beauty, right form the off. There are these childlike, 80s infused synth lines that pick out bits of melody, and then Tobacco comes into sight, his effects altered voice somewhere between an urgent whisper and a wispy singing voice, but the melodies that he delivers sink deep into the memory.
