Track: Birmingham’s Post-Punk Breakouts Baudelaire Shine On ‘Preacher’

Birmingham’s post-punk risers Baudelaire, unveils their electrifying new single, ‘Preacher’.

A pulsating, beguiling and infectious addition to their growing repertoire of dark, noise-infused anthems, the track showcases a songwriting approach comparable to the likes of Fat Dog and Gurriers, bringing a driving sense of energy, spoken word vocals and moments of anthemic melody.

Brooding and raw, viscerally intense, ‘Preacher’ unfurls through a disco inspired drum beat, urgent distorted spoken word vocals and some chunky, glitching guitar tones before reaching an unexpectedly infectious and catchy chorus. The spoken word is swapped for expressive melodic lead vocals, shifting from the post-punk tone of the tracks opening to a brief more alt-rock feel, a blend which showcases Baudelaire’s unique flair.

Hypnotic, fuzzy, musically rich and alluring experimental, the track is as striking as it is dynamic, building tension through its second verse and culminating in a climactic middle-eight and final, explosive chorus.

Talking about the track, the band describe it as: “Abrasive and frenetic – ‘Preacher’ is a noise-rock takedown of those that claim to have all the answers.”

Baudelaire’s previous singles securing airplay on BBC Introducing and BBC Radio 6, while their live shows have seen them open for the likes of Frank Turner, Heartworms, Crows, and Egyptian Blue, with sold-out gigs across the UK and even Paris highlighting their growing international acclaim.
