Baxter Dury returns with a new track ‘Aylesbury Boy’, taken from his seventh studio album ‘I Thought I Was Better Than You’, due for release on the 2nd of June via Heavenly Recordings.
On the new track Baxter says:
“This song is about coming from one place and arriving at another without fitting in to either, and I think of these people like characters from Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away.”
That unique vocal delivery of Dury over cool stripped back music works so well, and this track is no different. It’s gorgeous in places with piano and heavenly backing vocals, but the walking bass and droll delivery firmly anchor the track in place and is very much Dury brilliance.
