London 4 piece Baba Ganoush shine on the elegant new single ‘Swimming’, a prime example of their unique blend of Jazz, Soul, Rock and Psychedelic elements.
A vibrant jazz and soul tinted soundscape bringing together a shuffling beat, layered guitars and twinkling keys, ‘Swimming’ sets a vibrant, etherial, jazz tinted tone under the silky smooth vocal performance Natalie Duncan provides. As the track progresses through it’s shuffling beats it gradually builds to a bright and vibrant chorus before then dipping to a stunning, intimate muted section before ebbing its way back to the shuffling verse.
Closing on a soaring final chorus, the band close out a track full of intricate musical ideas and captivating melodies, perfectly encapsulating their musical approach.
On the single, the band share:
“We have been playing music together for years but have been intentionally waiting for the right song before doing our first release. We wrote ‘Swimming’ in an hour, and knew straight away it would be our debut single. We recorded it in our friend Pete Beardsworth’s living room. It features singing from the wonderful Natalie Duncan, who recorded her vocals in her bedroom wardrobe. We wanted to record and release this song entirely ourselves, to celebrate and channel the joy we experience when playing music together, for each other.”
