Singer-songwriter Ana Silvera releases her stunning new single ‘ Ghosts‘, ahead of her highly anticipated second album ‘The Fabulist‘ ( April 22 Release ). Ana is considered to be one of the leading voices of the alt-folk scene, and has certainly made her unique mark with her emotive vocal prowess, carefully crafted lyrics and a masterful storyteller in her own right. She’s helemed a number of tours and collaborations over the past decade with British contemporaries including Imogen Heap, Olivia Chaney, Jim Moray, Bill Laurance (Snarky Puppy), Maya Youssef, Mara Carlyle, Max de Wardener and Aidan O’Rourke (LAU). As per her solo work, her previous album ‘Oracles’ ( Guardian Critics Pick 2018) was hailed as a ” rare commitment to art” ( Clash). Her new single is no stranger to the songwriter’s artform . It’s a tale of sorrowful sisterly love, reflecting on Ana’s first -hand experience of witnessing her teenage brother’s descent into psychosis over the course of a sweltering London summer. Ana’s voice is delicately layered over a contemporary English -folk harmony of guitar, mandolin, and a string section that amplifies the angst of her brother’s descent. Ana’s voice seems to be purposely emotionally -removed’ from the otherwise heart -wrenching narrative, and this is what makes her songs stand out. Her ethereal quality recants some of darkest lyrics of the track , speaking directly to her brother :” And you didn’t speak a word, as they led you through the door. You were dumbstruck by the ghosts who waltzed your body down the hall “.
‘ Ghosts ‘ is out now on all available platforms . I am joyously anticipating ‘The Fabulist’ and urge you to support the magic of this artist.
