The Monochrome Set have been producing arch indie-pop with a raised eyebrow for some decades now. Their wry sound, peppered with literary cultural references and barbed wit, typified the Cherry Red Indie assault of the early 80s and spawned admirers and imitators alike.
Now a new album – ‘Maisieworld’ (their 14th!) will be released on February 9th on Tapete Records. On the same day a 6-CD/6-LP box set “1979–1985: Complete Recordings” will also be released on Tapete. It includes their first four studio albums (‘Strange Boutique’, ‘Love Zombies’, ‘Eligible Bachelors’ and ‘The Lost Weekend’) and all of their singles that have ever been released. Plus in-depth liner notes by singer Bid himself and Robert Rotifer.
The releases coincide with an extensive UK tour, with a few European dates thrown in for good measure, and the promise of extra dates being added throughout the coming months.
