Experimental rockers We Came as Strangers have released a new video for the track Still Life, taken from their forthcoming third album, Eyedom, out on August 31st. Originally formed as a side project for the four-piece, with Guitarist Justin Sandercoe explaining “I wanted to do a proper band where we all write the songs and are all involved in production. And we did go into it as strangers, I’d worked a bit with everyone but the rest of the band hadn’t met each other before.”
Still life opens with these almost ominous, bare octaves on the piano, but it soon settles into this warm shuffle, sitting somewhere between gentle americana – highlighted by these echo-ridden swooning guitar lines, and the sort of tune Morcheeba continually searched for. The result is like staring out on the back porch over some sun setting deserts in mind mind, rather than the more mundane reeality of my garden in Sheffield. But you know, those We Came As Strangers, they’re partners in daydreaming with this one.
Check out the beautifully shot accompanying video, directed and edited by Lee Jones.
