MANCHESTER legends A Certain Ratio, whose brilliant new album ACR Loco will be with us on Mute come September 25th, have just dropped the video for the none-more-Mancunian effortless pop of “Berlin” – we’ve embedded it, below.
And it really is a great record: we’ve embraced its taut, breathtaking funk and its intelligent pop and we’ll be publishing our review on September 20th – keep an eye out.
Jez Kerr says that ACR Loco is “… a culmination of everything we’ve ever done.”
“Berlin” – a slice of guitar pop bliss with one ear attuned with what would get a body moving and lips grinning out on the west end of Whitworth Street – features one of the final recorded vocal performances of the wonderful Denise Johnson, who sadly died in July.
“Denise will be missed so much by us,” says Martin Moscrop; “but her soaring voice will live on forever in our music and we are so blessed to have recorded with her on ACR Loco.”
Release day, Friday, September 25th, will be marked by a very special online event. ‘An Evening with A Certain Ratio’ will see the band play their new album in full at Hope Mill Recording Studio following an exclusive premiere of their 2019 hit-laden gig for the Manchester Warehouse Project’s Haçienda night.
The band will also be in conversation, with a question and answer session; to finish, expect one of the band’s infamous ACR Soundsystem DJ sets. To book your ticket, click through here.
