Garage rock quartet The Velvet Hands have shared the video that accompanies their new single ‘Only Blame Myself’ which is out digitally on January 26th. It’s taken from the bands forthcoming debut album ‘Party’s Over’, which drops digitally and on limited Record Store Day vinyl on April 21st, and on CD and standard vinyl May 4th on Easy Action’s new imprint Zen10.
It’s a rollocking good tune, with sprawling guitars slashing their way through things, as the track – sitting somewhere between The Vaccines, The Clash and The Libertines, propels onward, with the sort of singalong chorus that has you jumping around and joining in on first listen.
The Jackie magazine-esque sketched video, created by Gigsketch artist Tanja Durrant and edited by Mawgan Lewis features part animated live sketches of The Velvet Hands, part sketches depicting the song’s narrative, which focuses on tackling the perils of romance and low self-esteem.
