IT ALL began with a few casually posted photos on socials, showing Barcelonian cantante ROSALÍA in the studio with first posted casual studio photos with Daniel Lopatin, better known as Oneohtrix Point Never. That cranked the rumour mill into action, even Rolling Stone getting involved in what might be coming from the pair in fusion.
That was in late 2018, and in the meanwhile the pair busied adding to their catalogues, Oneohtrix Point Never working with The Weeknd, as musical director for the half-time show at the Superbowl, releasing last year’s futuristic trip of an album, Magic Oneohtrix Point Never; ROSALÍA’s been busy too, laying down her first album, collaborating with Billie Eilish and others.
And then all of a sudden they unveiled the results of what they’ve been up to: a transporting, otherworldly, almost elegiac tale on a track from that album, “Nothing’s Special”. We’ve got the Spanish language lyric video for you below.
And that’s all you need to hear from me: time to stand aside and let some Hispanophone ambient magic in.
