Mercury Prize nominated and multi-platinum selling London quartet The Magic Numbers have released the studio-shot video for the new single, ‘Sweet Divide’. This is the first piece of new music from the band following a three-year hiatus and taken from their forthcoming album ‘Outsiders’, available through Role Play Records on May 11. ‘Outsiders’ captures The Magic Numbers fired by a renewed sense of purpose, immediately apparent on first single ‘Sweet Divide’, with the band’s melodic facility bolstered by a newfound, grittier sensibility.
Conjuring a nostalgic sound from the heyday of the 70’s, ‘Sweet Divide’ creates a very US classic rock sound despite being from London, and they nail it perfectly. While exploring some subtle moments of experimentation it maintains a gritty edge while keeping it’s composure and ultimately being quite a chilled song. With it’s soft vocals, psychedelic prog rock moments and glorious vocal accompaniments this will be welcome song in their repertoire.
Magic Numbers will be on tour through UK and Ireland this Spring/Summer:
