ANIQO is the enticing, mist-wreathed musical incarnation of Berlin singer and poet Anita Goß, who’s slinking through the shadows in this most supernatural of months with the crisp darkwave of “Fear”, the video for which we’ve got just down there.
Born and brought up in the former East German Baltic port city of Wismar but drawn to the Berlin scene as a moth is to flame, Anita works across a variety of media, and likes to perform in London; a performance is likely on the cards come 2022, when her debut album, BIRTH, is slated for release.
She’s put that album (and thus this, the second single to tantalise you), together with bandmates Torsten Füchsel and Illia Vovk.
The twilit visuals come courtesy a collaboration with videographer Pupillendriller, aka Matthias Pfeiffer; together they also produced the monochrome footage for ANIQO’s first single, “Deep Sea Fish”, should you care to venture beyond the locked gates and into the fog.
Anita says of the video: “(It) symbolizes confrontations with various fears. Matthias and I have a similar perspective on the world, also in aesthetic terms.
“To visualize the feeling of a song is not easy, but we managed to do that here. Fear has many faces and I became even more aware of that during the shoot.”
ANIQO’s “Fear” is available to stream and download now via Springstoff Records.
