If perfect pop tunes, soaked in wooze (surely the root of woozy, right) and sprinkled with a little summer haze is your listening bag, then Broke Down Blues – the new single from a band based around Australian twins now residing in East London and working under the moniker Tempesst, is going to be your new obsession. Not really a blues that its title suggests, its got this irresistable ebb and flow about it, along with a melody that sits firmly in the ‘catchy’ category.
The band have just released an accompanying video for the track, and drummer Andy Banjanin, who directed the video explains the perils of including guns and heists and the like in your shoots, “We had the police called on us three times,” Andy explains. “Turns out our fake gun looked quite real. I guess someone saw Sam with a balaclava pacing into the petrol station, but somehow didn’t see me with a massive camera on my shoulder, and reported it. Next thing we had three police cars fly in and surround us, it was insane but they saw pretty quickly that we were filming and they were super chill after that.”

The video lands ahead of Tempesst’s headline show on September 29 at London’s MOTH CLUB. The band have announced a few other dates, including two with the Mystery Jets.
