Indie pop duo Summer Camp, aka husband and wife team Jeremy Warmsley and Elizabeth Sankey, have revealed a new video for ‘Love of my Life’, taken from their fifth album Romantic Comedy – itself a companion piece from Sankey’s film-debut of the same name.
‘ Love of my Life’ juxtaposes the heartbreak of the words with the uplifting Belle & Sebastian like joyful indie pop of the music. The strings arch and ache over the top, as the guitar joins the throng after conversing with the melodies through the verses. As sweet a pop song as you’ll hear this year, I reckon.
The new video was directed and edited by Elizabeth, who says: “While making ROMANTIC COMEDY I watched a lot of screwball comedies from the 1930s and 1940s for the first time, and was stunned at how fresh and relevant they still felt (and how little the genre has changed). Since we can’t get out of the house and film anything at the moment, I cut together some of my favourite moments from some of those films, and also couldn’t resist putting in some clips of Fred and Ginger dancing, which I hope will lift everyone’s spirits as they always lift mine“.
