With his album Domesticated out on June 5th, everything is in full flow in the Sébastien Tellier camp, and he’s released a new video for the single A Ballet, as if we weren’t excited enough. Tellier’s sixth album delves into the changes between being carefree and single, and then suddenly having a Wife and Children and finding himself transfixed by a toaster.
“Domestication is a universal subject, an experience we all go through,” he explains. “It’s about transforming the everyday into something extraordinary. I wanted to talk about how we are prisoners to domestic chores because, for humans, life doesn’t exist if we don’t endeavour. Life is a permanent struggle, and domestic chores are at the centre of that battle.”
A Ballet wraps those feelings in a delicious pop sheen, quintessentially dreamy and French, his autotune vocal sounding perfect for the sprawling beats, drifting synth chords and yacht rock saxophone.
The video plays on the domesticated themes, dancing with marigold emblazoned hands and overseeing daily chores. Check it out, here
