Hailing from Bristol, Andrew Hayes and Dan Johnson are a fascinating collision of pounding, tribal drums and screaming saxophone. The duo was formed through a shared passion for improvisation, spiritual jazz and heavy, experimental music and have been writing their own narrative in the new era of crossover jazz, all whilst touring the UK extensively. Having released an EP, live cassette and limited edition 7”, they are now set to release their debut album, The Delicate Balance Of Terror. Their set-up is seemingly straightforward, comprising drum kit and saxophone (put through a collection of carefully selected effects before being passed through guitar and bass guitar amps simultaneously. The result is two musicians, constantly finding new ways to push the boundaries.
Check out their new video for the track, Death is Elsewhere, a track which has this air of woozy mystery about it.
