Roses Gabor signalled her arriveal as one of the most striking and exciting voices in Britain with her 2012 single ‘Stars’. It followed on previous collaborations with Gorillaz and SBTRKT amongst others, and led to much fauning from the likes of Zane Lowe and Huw Stephens.
Now she’s back with a new single, Rush, which came out just a week or so ago. Recorded in just a couple of hours with producer MNEK (Rudimental, Duke Dumont, Tinie Tempah in his East London Studio, its described by Gabor as being about the electrical chemistry that links two people together, the unseen but unbreakable forcefield.
Starting out slow paced and with these chiming synths, Gabor’s smokey delivery seems almost minimal in the wake of these tumbling electro lines, and squelchy bass. IN the background there’s this lovely harmony vocals, misty and ethereal in the mix, that give the song a sultry, blurry feel.
Check out the video below. I feel a debut album coming on…..
