After releasing his new, and brilliant, album Nozinja’s Lodge on Warp Records last month, South Africa producer Nozinja himself is back with a new video for album cut ‘Baby Do U Feel Me’. It propels along at a breakneck 190bpm, and is scattered with percussion everywhere that ripples away. Underneath, there are these female vocal cut ups that stab in with the title statement, as well Nozinja’s own Afrobeat take on jungle/electronica. There’s hints of reggae with the off beat synth stabs, and he litters the track with short melodic phrases and other electro trickery. Like holding a swan out of water (maybe….) it has both the serene exterior and the furious movement clearly on show to all.

Later on this month, Tuesday 21 and Wednesday 22 July the producer will set up a pop up studio in the Barbican Gallery, where members of the public will be able to watch Shangaan tracks come to life in real time, with his Shangaan dancers that accompany him on tour to the fore. Following on, he will also perform live in the Gallery on Thursday 23 July, with Micachu & Tirzah just announced to support.
