‘Chance’, by Sydney based artist Moody Beach, is a gloriously mesmerising shoegaze track that is filled with yearning and romance: a perfect slice of shimmering dream pop. There is a deep romanticism and melancholy:
I was once the girl
You loved the most
Let me be the girl
You love the most
Moody Beach is the work of Adelaide born Melissah Mirage. She says that the track is:
…an ode to nostalgia. It’s a nod to those yearning for the past while looking to the future. Warmth and sadness, to me, are both associated with nostalgia, a complicated and enticing emotion.
Moody Beach has just released a video for the track and it is a perfect capture of the deep sense of longing evinced by the track, black and white montages interspersed with hypnotic performance shots.
This is utterly glorious sound and vision.
You can catch Moody Beach this weekend in Sydney with another Backseat Mafia favourite, Barley Passable. More details here.
