Out now is the new video from riding indie popper Leon of Athens, Baby Asteroid. Securing award winning director Yorgos Lanthimos to take control of the visuals, its a slightly weird, slightly funny and definitely thought provoking. Its a take, albeit a conceptual one, on modern society, a clear shot at Leon and Yorgos’ home country Greece.
He’s got form at all the above, his film Dogtooth winning the Prix Un Certain Regard at Cannes, and being nominated in the Best Foreign Language Film Category at the 83rd Academy Awards.
The accompanying track, the second single taken from Leon of Athens forthcoming album Global, is this sweeping, uplifting track, packed full of indie stylings, these synth pop lines that float around the chorus and a tinge of folk and its blessed with the sort of melody that sticks long in the mind. Nifty work, really.
