GAZELLE TWIN and NYX, the artist and choir who have been working with a deep, dark vision of the country this year to fully deserved acclaim, awe, trepidation and immersion, are welcoming the coming of All Hallows’ Eve, the day the dead are remembered and, in folklore, the day when the veil between our world and theirs is at its thinnest, with a witch’s purse of releases – I mean, how could they not?
There’s a new video, for the moss-infused, stunning track “Deep England” – we’e got that herein for you, it’s chilling and beautiful in exact balance. It’s genuinely stunning work: a paean to darker land underneath the brash and the ersatz of the modern day.
Having not performed together for 15 months, Gazelle Twin and NYX convened at Shoreditch Town Hall in East London to flex their haunting aesthetic in the round and therein performed an abridged reading of their album Deep England.
You can immerse and covenant and thrill in the full performance film this weekend, in celebration of Hallowe’en; it’s running from tomorrow, October 29th, through to Sunday over at Paus TV, the free streaming platform dedicated to independent filmmaking.
That’s not all to spill from the cauldron: NYX Collective Records is also to release a limited series of The Sacred Tape cassette, featuring the live audio recording of the Deep England performance film. Cassettes can also be pre-ordered from tomorrow, October 29th, at Bandcamp.
There’s one final item to come: cult, limited T-shirt creators 1 of 100 have created a very limited run of both short- and long-sleeved attire resplendent with the Deep England artwork, which will be available to order from 8am British Summer Time tomorrow, here. You really had best be quick.
Connect with Gazelle Twin elsewhere at her website, and NYX, also, at theirs.
