Brooklyn rap trio Flatbush Zombies, aka Meechy Darko, Zombie Juice and Erick Arc Elliott are one of the hottest acts in Hip-Hop right now, having released a couple of mixtapes and their highly regarded Clockwork Indigo EP since their inception in 2012. Ahead of their debut album 3001: A laced Odyssey the band are following up previous single Bounce with the darker, more circumspect ‘This is it’.
Less hard-hitting than it’s predecessors, its built around this haunting piano line and wiry electronics as the three lay down their rhymes and ideas in an intoxicating way, all three different but all three grabbing your ears with their respective merits, flow and rhymes. There’s a certain amount of similarity to fellow Brooklyn rhymer Joey Bada$$, amongst others, which clearly is no bad thing. Check out the Phillip T. Annand directed b/w video, which cuts between the band performing, dancing and smoking.
