Out right now is Fear on the Rise, the brand new single from Nottingham four piece Field Studies. Despite their youth, the band have already supported Girl Band on tour, as well as appearing at this years Dot to Dot festival and Glastonbury and picking up the support fo the likes of Huw Stephens and Tom Robinson.
Fear on the Rise has this swagger about it, with shuffling percussion and wiry, angst ridden guitars, particularly in the verse. As it hits the chorus, so things become more dreamy and the guitar winds around this harmony riddled vocal. Essentially though, its a sweet pop song, scuffed up and dressed in trendy clothes. As it reaches the point of climax, the guitar swirl and the vocal hits its high point, that doesn’t seem to matter, such is the power of its beauty.
Check out the video for the track here, featuring much opening of fortune cookies.
