Famously covered by John Coltrane, the Rogers and Hammerstein classic passed over from show tune to standard a long time ago. Brooklyn based Grammy nominated drummer and composer Dan Pugach Has arranged the tune for his Nonet, and they’ve just released the resulting accompanying video.
Difficult to arrange given its a tune that everyone knows and that even its interpretations are amongst the most well known, Pugach has given it a rich, almost Soulful jazz version, with the brass being warm and not intrusive, instead backing up the frankly beautiful vocals of Nicole Zuraitis, and the dexterous Soprano Saxophone of Andrew Gould
