In support of his album Differentology, out this week via a joint release from RCA and VP Records, comes the new video from one of Trinidad & Tobago’s biggest exports, Bunji Garlin. His new album mixes up Soca, EDM, dancehall and even hip-hop into something thats exciting, engaging, and might just propel him into global superstardom.
Truck on D Road has its roots in soca, with its driving rhythms, but it also has some elements of this bubbling house feel, with its wobbly synth lines. Every now and then there’s this rippling bassline that takes us from one thing to another, as Garlin delivers something thats absolutely impossible not to move to.
The accompanying video, directed by Tom Swindell, is filmed at the Trinidad & Tobago carnival features, well, a truck on the road, with Bunji and his crew Jillionaire and Walshy Fire of Major Lazer, Fay-Ann Lyons, Anya Ayoung Chee, KES The Band, Kardinal Offishall, Trinidad James and A$AP Ferg (who is featured on the “Truck On D Road Remix) along for the ride. I don’t know whether its the most exciting or the most daunting thing I’ve ever seen. Certainly though, its crazy…..
