SEE: Brian Eno video from Film Music album

Brian Eno has commissioned a video for one of the tracks from his recently released ‘Film Music 1976 – 2020’ album. ‘Decline and Fall’, from the film, ‘O Nome da Morte’ is the piece in question, so it seemed only natural to ask the film’s director to provide the visuals.

Award-winning Brazilian-born director Henrique Goldman delivers a cinematic visual feast, juxtaposing a tortured assassin with sweeping backdrops of untameable widescreen nature. It’s part revenge/redemption movie and part Koyaanisqatsi, the rich metaphorical images serving as a stunning counterpoint and complement to Eno’s undulating soundscape.

As a lifelong fan, Goldman admits he found it a daunting prospect, maybe due to the quite extraordinary fact, that despite a fifty year-long relationship with cinema soundtracks, it’s Brian Eno’s first official music video.

Film Music 1976 – 2020 is out now in the UK on UMC (download, double vinyl and CD) with a US physical release planned for January.
