Following on from 2015’s Run album, Awolnation are preparing to release their third album ‘Here come the runts’. It once again showcases the talents of frontman Aaron Bruno who wrote, recorded and produced the album. . “With this record I really wanted to make a rock n’ roll/pop album,” says Bruno. “And I say ‘pop’ how I grew up listening to it, in the sense of Dire Straits or Born In The U.S.A or The Cars or Tom Petty.”
From the record, the band have released a new single, Handyman. There’s a sense of the power pop about it without it ever quite wanting to be pop punk, with the sweetness of the verse contrasting with the anthemic and harder edged chorus. They’ve released an accompanying video again directed by Ravi Dhar (Dhar also directed the band’s previous music video for the single ‘Passion’), and featuring accomplished film/TV/stage actor Monte Markham alongside actress Alex Essoe (Starry Eyes).
