ANE BRUN has announced details of a brand new single, ‘Feeling Like I Wanna Cry‘, released on her own label, Balloon Ranger Recordings. It’s the first taste of her as-yet-untitled eighth studio album, which will represent her first of original material since 2015’s acclaimed When I’m Free and follows 2017’s exquisite collection of cover versions, Leave Me Breathless.
For such a singular artist it’s surprising that Ane Brun is not more celebrated outside Scandinavia. Every release throughout her seventeen year creative journey marks out a step forward. Built around her distinctly beautiful and sensitive vocals, Brun can make powerful music alone with her acoustic guitar or at the helm of a full band.
The new release ‘Feeling like I wanna cry’ sees her drawing on her deep pop sensibilities to bring heart and soul to the pulsing, orchestral electronica. As always with her work, the stunning video by Martin Bergstrom and Thomas Klementsson is a perfect companion to the track’s contemporary message around the climate emergency. Ane Brun talks herself about the song reflecting both a ‘sense of sorrow’ and ‘a desperate sign of hope’. It’s that tension that always elevates her music to another place.
She will be touring Europe in the Autumn and will deliver her magic to the UK with December shows in Glasgow, Manchester and London.
