Say Psych: Track Review: The Vacant Lots – Into The Depths (Cold Cave Deep Speed Remix)

Brooklyn’s The Vacant Lots have released a Cold Cave remix of ‘Into The Depths’, originally lifted from their highly acclaimed third LP Interzone, which is getting its second pressing via Fuzz Club Records.

Released last Summer and long sold-out, Interzone saw glowing praise from Iggy Pop and Henry Rollins (who played the band on their 6 Music and KCRW shows, respectively), Uncut, Loud & Quiet, Brooklyn Vegan, Classic Rock and numerous others.

Talking about the remix, Jared Artaud says: “It’s truly an honor to collaborate with Wesley Eisold. Not only is Cold Cave one of my favorite bands, but he’s one of my favorite poets. I can count on one hand the contemporary bands whose music I find inspiring. Cold Cave is the ultimate. It’s music that cuts through the bullshit and strikes the soul. Brian and I wanted to have just one remix to go with Interzone, and there was no one else we wanted to work with more than Cold Cave. I love what Wesley did to the track – pushing it to the extremes, into some insanely ordered chaos zone.”

It’s a fresh and exciting take on one of Interzone’s best tracks, with a dancefloor vibe that will easily see this drawing crowds. It’s the type of remix you didn’t know you needed in your life until you hear it, and then you can’t live without it.
