Say Psych: Track Review: Pray for Mojo – Bonnacon

Warrington’s finest, Pray for Mojo, are back with a new single, ‘Bonnacon’, out now on Rare Vitamin Records.

‘Bonnacon’, is self recorded in their own studio and mixed by Ste Cole at What? Studios who worked with them on their EP Rickety Bridges. The track introduces a progressive and fast paced side to the band both musically and sonically, adding a depth in harmonic vocals, analogue delay equipment and studio layering, drawing influence from a wide range of sounds and artists from Scorpions up to King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard and more.

Written across a range of terrains, from the studio itself to the fields of Wide Awake, ‘Bonnacon’ knocks on multiple human and universal topics from self doubt, to astrological influences, to flat out not being able to stand up, ‘Bonnacon’ describes the human experience members of the band were experiencing across the time of writing via the Legendary Medieval creature the song is named after.

The pacey track harnesses the skills the band have developed and the mature depths it plumbs showcase this to fine extent. It also manages to capture some of their infectious live energy and keeps you hooked from the first note to last.
