Moondrive is a solo project created by Emanuele Cicerchia in 2014 and has spent the past five years creating and developing his sound in the cities of Arezzo, Bologna, and Paris.
Moondrive’s sound is an amalgamation of psychedelic, pop, shoegaze, and electronic elements that hint at different decades, elements which it both draws from and runs from, shatters, and forgets. Although the album was created, performed, and produced by Emanuele, it manifests on stage as a band of 4 musicians.
In October 2017, he released his self-titled debut album on CD, vinyl and digital download. The personality of the album took nearly three years to shape, composed of multiple musical currents coming together into one homogenous vessel. The sound comes from the artist’s past experiences: psychedelic rock improvisation, electronic experimentation, and exposure to a wide range of artists from across the board. These all contribute to a project with a decidedly diverse musicality.
Moondrive doesn’t trace clear and sharp guidelines within which to be reclassified, but rather leaves space for something undefined, seeking to create a more profound dialogue that resonates directly with the heart of the listener.
