Brisbane-based band, Confidence Man have released a new track, ‘Feels Like a Different Thing’ which is lifted from their forthcoming, sophomore album ‘Tilt’, which will be out on 1 April 2022.
According to vocalist, Jane Planet:
‘Feels Like A Different Thing’ isn’t here to mess around, Two lyrics, one riff, no fuss. It’ll get your blood pumping. It’ll make your ears bleed (in a good way). It’ll steal your car and burn down your house and you’ll still say thanks.
‘Feels Like A Different Thing’ was written and produced by the band and the mixing was done by Ewan Pearson who has worked with groups such as the Pet Shop Boys and Jagwar Ma. It’s a fast paced, soul-inflected slice of EDM.
The video for the song was directed by W.A.M Bleakly and filming took place at Cooper Pedy, which was the location for the 1985 version of Mad Max.
‘Feels Like A Different Thing’ is out now through I Oh You and available to download and stream here.
Confidence Man are riding a wave of success – their single ‘Holiday’ was put on high rotation by Triple J in its first week of release. The song also earned praise from global DJs and publications such as the NME and Rolling Stone. According to Spotify, streams of ‘Holiday’ hit an all time high on New Year’s Eve.
The band is approaching the new album with the philosophy of ‘Think less, Do More’ and this is very apparent on “Feels Like a Different Thing.” The track has an irresistible beat and without thinking, you find yourself up on your feet and wanting to party like it is 1999. Speaking of that era, the influence of in particular, Deee-lite is clearly discernible on the track, watching the music video, I was half expecting Lady Miss Kier, in her psychedelic boiler-suit and platform shoes to come striding into the bar scene. Instead, the video features a spectacular explosion, which is very apt given the location’s link to Mad Max.
With “Feels Like a Different Thing” Confidence Man have taken their music to a new level, they have gone Beyond Thunderdome and world domination will surely follow.
Confidence Man will headline Melbourne’s Forum in February before hitting the summer festival circuit in Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth, plus Splendour in the Grass in July. The band will then head to the UK/EU to headline 02 Forum Kentish Town in London.
