We’re delighted to premiere the new video this morning from North London’s Yaglander, for his single The Straight and Narrow. It’s taken from his EP of the same name which is out on 22nd May.
The straight and narrow mixes up left-field indie/synth pop, akin to the likes of Cate Le Bon, but throws in this sort of slacker vocal steering close to Mark E Smith or even Lou Reed. Built on these almost childlike like synth tunes, scuffed up guitars and angular melodies, Yaglander weaves it into something that is engaging and satisfyingly melodic.
It’s accompanied by Yaglander on the side of the river, performing the track, in lockdown mode. It’s charming DIY aesthetic matches the track perfectly.
