We are very honoured to bring you an exclusive look at the brilliant new video for the track ‘The Sweetheart’ from troubadour extraordinaire Wade Jackson – a tune we astutely described as being bold, cinematic and luscious. Fitting, therefore, that the new video is as visually eloquent and as stately as the soundtrack.
Created by Jonathan Sequeira, there is a Lynchian element in the primary colours and enigmatic performance of Wade (and his buff clones) – a retro noir mysterious tone seeped in a nostalgic hue with its scratchy tape delivery. Is this a paean to his own self as a muse? There is certainly a self-deprecatory sense of muted humour to the delivery, matching the wry lyrics.
Jackson says of the video:
The clip leans on film noir and classic 50’s style independent film making spying on a delusional Berlin bachelor living out his self inflated lonely daydream of a romantic fantasy in his own mind while directing himself through a video clip that never was.
This is an enigmatic and immersive accompaniment to the song: majestic and mysterious, rich and nuanced:
‘The Sweetheart’ is out everywhere today through Broken Stone Records/Remote Control Records and available on all streaming services through the link below and here.
Jackson is a man of many talents – he has a background in music theatre and screen writing and his film ‘Waiting – The Van Duren Story’ is currently streaming on BINGE and FOXTEL in Australian, SkyARTS in NZ and AMAZON PRIME, North America.
