We’re delighted here on Backseat Mafia to premiere the new track/video from London/Suffolk duo The Purple Lights for their forthcoming single Lake, out on July 12th via 3-6-9
‘Essentially Lake is a break-up song, for anyone who has loved and lost, a coming to terms with reality and moving forward in life’ say the band, and it’s certainly has these moments of melancholy about it, despite the uplifting melodies the band employ. There’s elements of reggae, particularly at the beginning with this drum work and stabbed off beat guitar chords, but there’s also doses of the sort of dramatic, emotive indie rock the likes of Bastille produce, and if those backing vocals don’t get you singing along, then you must’ve dropped your feels somewhere.
Check it out, along with the heavily purple hued video, here
If you’re about at Camden Rocks at the weekend, do make sure you catch them there.
