Out tomorrow is the new a single from The Daydream Club, taken from the duo’s forthcoming album ‘All our born days’ out on November 5th via Poco Poco Records and we’re delighted to be able to premiere the accompanying video right here on Backseat Mafia today.
As with all the bands outputs, the duo – Adam and Paula Pickering, have overseen every aspect of the recording process with this release, from recording and writing to artwork and videos. It’s paid dividends with the band recently passing 100 career streams. Of the song, the band say “One thing we all share in this universe is finality. Living through a global pandemic can make you acutely aware of this reality. With Endgame, The Daydream Club raise questions about living well and the kind of legacy we leave behind “Have I lived as if I’m on stage, recurring loops on different days?” The song is a journey, like passing through stages of grief.”
Moody and atmospheric, Endgame is typical of The Daydream Club, whisking up elements of folk, indie and electronica into something melodic and striking, albeit shrouded in this anxious hue, these icy shivers of synth particularly effective, contrasting with the warmth of the vocals, working in this warm harmony. The accompanying video features the lyrics amid some inventive and beautiful animations.
