Sydney Alternative-Pop up and comer jnr. shares the vibrant and emotive new offering ‘I Didn’t Know Myself (Before I Met You) and we’re very excited to be running the premiere.
A gorgeous, silky soundscape of electronic elements and perfectly placed guitars adorns the new single creating and emotive-yet-infectiously bright and breezy sonic feel. Instantly comparable to the more commercial side of Dirty Hit’s signature sound, ‘I Didn’t Know Myself (Before I Met You)’ has a musical approach comparable to The Japanese House and The 1975, giving the track a warming familiarity whilst cutting it’s own groove.
Opening with a processed guitar loop, washes of synth pads, crunching electronic drums, plucking synth bass and a warming reverb tinted guitar line, the track quickly sets the tone as jnr. delivers earworm melodies tinted with a gentle sense of melancholy. Progressing towards the chorus, shifting into the brilliant movement of the pre-chorus’s vocal line, the track soon cuts before bursting into the euphoric 80s tinted chorus, capitalising on the vibrant instrumental pallet of the verse with a sparkling sense of optimism.
Speaking about the track, jar. explains: “This is my first love song. It feels like falling in love, for real and for the first time. When you finally realise how another person can make you a better and more sincere person”.
