RUNK or Rebels Unite with New Knowledge is the new moniker of Londoner Victor Davis, former darling of mid naughtiest acoustic soul jazz. He’s kept some of that and added hip-hop, house and funk to the mix with his new project, and we’re delighted to premiere She Don’t Want Ya No Mo feat. Crackerjack today on Backseat Mafia.
Of the track Davis told us exclusively “This track is about someone holding on to someone with hope when they should have let go a long time ago. It feature vocals from crackerjack a wise old character giving knowledge and straight truth. I had real fun making this track laying down guitars and beats, and you know its good when you spend most of the time laughing”
Crackerjack has this world weary croak, but it to it hits all the right spots over this hip-hop / country (yes, country. Steel pedals and all) backing that makes it stand out but in all the right ways. Davis’ flow is delivered with thought and this higher sense of cool, which purveys the whole track.
