Captivating R&B artist Robbi Niles has returned with a new single, titled ‘Melody’, and we’re delighted to be able to premiere it right here on Backseat Mafia today.
The Barbados artist released his debut single ‘Wonder’ at just 16 Yeats old and has found some success, charting on the ACQB Top 200 Chart. Picking up hundreds of thousands of streams and closing in on a million video views, he’s an artist certainly on the up. Of ‘Melody’, he says “Melody is a reflective piece. It encapsulates my emotional state of mind as I was trying to cope with grief. After the tragic loss of my dear friend to cancer, I put pen to paper with the aid of veteran songwriter Sonia Leigh and producer/songwriter Terrance Lam (POLUN).
I hope that the song would be a sign of hope and comfort for anyone and everyone who is going through similar circumstances. You are not alone.”
It’s a smoky R&B flavoured track, with his vocals cascading over these anxious sounding repeated synth patterns, with scattered beats and shards of bass and strings adding to the gluey, misty production. With just enough melancholy to go round on the melodies, it winds its wispy way into your consciousness, and stays there. The accompanying vidoe shows him letting it all out there as he performs the track
