We are ever so proud to premiere the new single ‘Chore’ from Mornington Peninsula riser Natasha Kate who displays signs of incredible maturity and stature in the new single that belies her age. This is an artist that is going to make a huge impression.
‘Chore’ puts to the fore Kate’s dulcet tones – an extraordinary range that is as ethereal and enchanting as a heavenly chorus, underpinned by a power and force within its own delicacy.
The track itself brings to mind Phoebe Bridgers or Sharon Van Etten with its bold melodic strength and anthemic chorus. The guitars sparkle and shimmer over a driving beat, ebbing and flowing, utterly immersive. The lyrics reveal a wry approach (I’m the best you had), mature and touched with more than a little swagger and a sense of humour as Kate sings of a lost love and a desire to leave an indelible impression. If you have the temerity to leave her, you will be sorry. She says of the track:
‘Chore’ is about knowing your worth and not giving a second chance to someone who didn’t know what they had until it was gone.
Well, I can say for certain Kate will leave an indelible impression with this gorgeous tune:
Kate is clearly a prodigious talent based on this, only her second single. ‘Chore’ is out everywhere on Saturday, 23 November and you can pre-order here.
You can catch Kate live this weekend – details below.
At sixteen-years-old Kate released her first single ‘Treading Water’ in July; produced by Spud Thompson from Elusive Creative in Dromana. For the past two years she has worked alongside industry professionals, making annual self- funded trips to Queensland to meet with LA-based songwriters Pam Shayne & Richard Harris. In 2024 alone, Kate has won the Peninsula Shire ‘Green Wedge songwriting competition’, reached new audiences on national radio, released her first single, played over 20 shows, all while being completely independent.
Kate has been writing songs since early childhood, with lyricism driving her passion for music. Though inspired by the likes of Missy Higgins, Noah Kahan, Lizzy McAlpine & Phoebe Bridgers, she has a distinct sound of her own.
